Since the visionary Cyril Percy Brewer of Wellington first opened the doors at Tasti in 1932, the company has been on a relentless quest to source the highest quality ingredients for its customers. Tasti’s journey began with large, fresh cuts of ginger, meticulously hand-cut and syruped in oak barrels to create the renowned crystallized ginger. This delicious treat quickly became a favourite among bakers throughout New Zealand, and its popularity soared in hotels and gentlemen’s clubs as a remedy for heavy drinkers.

In the 1960s, Tasti introduced the pioneering Fruit Mix, a delightful blend of raisins, currants, mixed peel, and imitation cherries, specifically crafted for home bakers. This innovative product marked a significant milestone in Tasti's evolution and set the stage for future creations.

The 1970s heralded a new era for Tasti as they moved to a purpose-built facility on the Te Atatu Peninsula. This move spurred fresh ideas, leading to the launch of the iconic Snak Log in 1977, which quickly became one of New Zealand’s most cherished muesli bars.

In 1990, they began producing snack bars and cereals under the Weight Watchers brand. By 1998, the creation of the beloved Muffin Bakes further solidified Tasti’s reputation for quality and innovation, with the product remaining a staple to this day.

From its humble beginnings, Tasti has flourished. Now employing over 250 people and exporting products worldwide, the company remains rooted in its original home on the Te Atatu Peninsula. Despite a competitive market with both established players and new entrants, Tasti has successfully maintained a significant market share.

In a recent endeavour, Tasti partnered with ScreenShield to produce custom-made screen protectors for their staff’s daily use. After finalizing the design and selecting optimal materials, the screen protectors entered production and were swiftly delivered to Tasti’s headquarters by New Zealand Post. This collaboration underscores Tasti’s dedication to quality and innovation, ensuring their staff has the best tools to support their continued success.
