Device Spotlight: Olympus Tough TG-6

“The Ultimate Partner to capture and withstand the most punishing environments” The tagline for the camera is designed to be in the mountains, on the beach and in the snow, The Olympus tough TG-6 can withstand the most punishing environments and deliver the highest image quality. The Olympus TG-6 features the popular variable macro system, enhanced underwater shooting modes and further system expandability with a new fisheye converter for circular fisheye photography.

The Variable Macro System consists of four Macro shooting modes and two separately available accessories for Macro shooting. This system makes it possible to capture amazing photos and the smallest of details. The bright f/2.0 high-resolution lens delivers high image quality thanks to a combination of the latest image processor and the high-speed back-lit CMOS sensor

The first thing that jumps to mind is how tough is the Olympus Tough TG-6? Well let's take a look at its key performance metrics

Waterproof to 15m - This means you can shoot in heavy rain and while snorkelling!

Shockproof to 2.1m – Tested and still clear drop tests up to 2.1m

Freezeproof to -10 degrees – Can be confidently used on your winter adventures and guaranteed to work down to negative 10 degrees Celsius.

You can view the concept video for The Olympus TG-6 on YouTube and can view a full range of sample images taken on the Olympus Tough TG-6.

The total number of pixels is approximately 12.7 million and has an aspect ratio of 1.33 (4:3). The Lens structure is 9 lens elements in 7 groups and a Focal length of 4.5mm – 18.0mm (25mm – 100mm) operating with an optical zoom of 4x.

There is no doubt the Olympus Tough TG-6 is exactly as the name says ‘Tough’ but with a 3-inch colour LCD monitor I would recommend adding a Nano Glass screen protector to your Olympus Tough TG6.
